about me!

Photo cred - Gingerbeard Weddings

Where do I get my inspiration?

I get most of my inspiration from the moment, the venue, and the most of all the, the people!. I don’t set out to emulate any other photographers, I try to create my own style. That’s not to say I don’t look at other photographer’s work, I’m really loving Saul Leiter at the minute, he’s a New York street photographer who’s work is stunning!

Before I shot weddings.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a soldier, a chef and a photographer. At 17 I left home and joined the Army where I had the pleasure of having James Blunt as my troop leader for a short time. After 7 years in 2004 I left the Army and trained to become a chef. After 15 years of hard graft in hot and sweaty kitchens, I’m 5 years in to shooting weddings and I’m ready to permanently hang up my chef knives in next year.

How I do it!..

It’s easy!! I’m not fake, if I’m 100% natural with my couples they realise I’m just a normal guy, someone who could be just another guest at a wedding. There’s no awkwardness, you have to get along with your wedding photographer, it’s the only wedding supplier that will be with you from the start right through to the end and if you don’t feel comfortable with them then that’s going to show in your photos.

Love, love, love our wedding photos. They tell the story of the day as it unfolded, exactly what we wanted!! Cannot not recommend John enough
